Attorney Michael B. Smith, a native of Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania, became a partner in the firm of Hummel, Lewis & Smith, LLP, in 2016. Attorney Smith's primary focus is personal injury and medical malpractice, where he proudly represents those who have been injured as a result of the recklessness and negligence of others.

Attorney Smith has been certified as a Life Member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, one of the most prestigious groups of trial lawyers in the United States, comprised of fewer than 1% of practicing attorneys in the United States. Membership in the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum is limited to those attorneys who have secured a verdict or settlement on behalf of a client in the amount of $2 million or more.

Attorney Smith also has extensive experience in criminal law, family law, complex civil litigation, as well as real estate. He has helped hundreds of people through traumatic life experiences in both criminal and family law.

Attorney Smith cares about the community. He served as treasurer for the Columbia-Montour Council of the Boy Scouts of America from 2009-2013. As a member of the Rotary Club of Mount Carmel, he was Vice President in 2013-2014 and served as President from 2014-2016. He is a member of the Kulpmont Knights of Columbus and Valley Gun & Country Club in Elysburg.

Attorney Smith proudly serves as solicitor for Mount Carmel Borough, Mount Carmel Municipal Authority, Kulpmont-Marion Heights Joint Municipal Authority, Benton Municipal Water and Sewer Authority, Greenwood Township, Greenwood Township Municipal Authority, and the Millville Borough Zoning Hearing Board.

Attorney Smith graduated magna cum laude from Bloomsburg University with a bachelor's degree in Business Economics and cum laude from Widener University School of Law. At Widener, Attorney Smith was selected as a member of the Trial Advocacy Honor Society, having exhibited excellence in the art of trial advocacy. He resides in Mount Carmel with his family.
